CDN and CSX Railroad Roll Out New Gate Exit App
Automotive logistics cloud-based software specialist Car Delivery Network (CDN) is rolling out its electronic gate exit enhancement in cooperation with the CSX Railroad, further extending the capabilities of its market-leading ePOD application, vinDELIVER.
Having recognized the benefits of going paperless, many automotive OEMs and rail carriers are moving forward with the implementation of CDN’s electronic gate exit service offering ‘eOUTGATE’, which allows truck carriers using the vinDELIVER ePOD app to exit rail facilities quickly and efficiently with 100% paperless movements. eOUTGATE will also enable users to electronically capture and transmit load data, damage codes, and related photos directly to CSX’s system. Uniquely, this system enables inspection agents to gain direct and immediate access to the damage writeups, facilitating rapid and seamless release of vehicles at these locations.
Greg May, CDN President and CEO, commented “ We are very pleased to have successfully integrated with the CSX system, thereby enabling our carrier partners to move another step closer to a paperless environment. It is our purpose to support, connect, and simplify.”
CDN’s eOUTGATE enhancement is now live at the CSX Lawrenceville and Birmingham rail facilities. Carriers using the CDN app at CSX ramps include Supreme Auto Transport, Hansen & Adkins Auto Transport, and JMN Logistics and Transportation. It is estimated there are approximately 105 rail ramps handling finished vehicles in the US and to date 21 are now live with eOutgate.
CDN has already implemented eOUTGATE at a number of UNION PACIFIC rail facilities and work is underway to develop interfaces to many other US and Canadian railroads.
